Short Term Medical Insurance
- Are you between jobs?
- On summer vacation from college?
- Are you newly employed waiting for your group coverage to begin?
- Maybe you just need medical coverage for 30 days or up to 6 months?
Normally, you wouldn't want a short-term health insurance policy. Unlike most policies, they are not guaranteed renewable, but if you fit into any of the above situations, a short term plan may be best for you. A short term policy is a temporary insurance policy that can go from 30 days to 12 months in length, most popular being the 6 month term. A great benefit of a short term policy compared to traditional individual medical plans is that they tend to cost much less than regular plans — about one half to one third as much. While a short term is not a traditional policy that includes co pay requirements, if placed with the right company, you can enjoy the PPO network rates/discounts just as you would a long term policy.
